Last Week's Speaker

Eric Spevack was our guest speaker. He talked about the 5th Annual Veterans Dinner Dance. All proceeds go to families of those in the military. It is all comprised of all volunteers with no administrative overhead. Last year 675 guests attended raising $20,000 for the cause.

This event will be held on November 14, 2006. Governor Corzine, Joe Piscopo, and several Philadelphia Eagles will be attending. Eric asked our group to help raise money and awareness by buying tickets to the event. Tickets are $55 per person and $100 per couple. For active military or veterans the cost is $25 per person and $40 per couple. Ad space is available for the booklet. Brochures were distributed to everyone with specifics -- ad prices, etc.

He was also there to talk about his pending appointment by governor Corzine as the Commissioner for the NJ World War II Memorial. Eric is committed to raise the 5 million needed to complete the project. Since it was first conceived there has been only $65,000 received in corporate sponsorship.

On Memorial Day 2006, three local papers ran articles about the project in an attempt to raise awareness and much needed money. A grand total of $6500 has been raised to date from this media exposure.

He has a commitment from Joe Piscopo to be honoree chair and is waiting on a commitment from Kelly Ripka. Bon Jovi has been asked to do three benefit concerts to raise funds.

There will be a press conference on October 30th with Govenor Corzine. The official fund raising kickoff will be at the Veterans Dance on November 14th.

After Eric's presentation Fred was given a special hat to promote awareness of the memorial.
